Do you think there is a difference between making love and sex with your partner?

I tell my husband of 6 years we have never made love. He doesn't understand what I mean at all. I love sex but really miss making love once in a while. Ladies do you know what I mean?
But then again he is generally emotionally immature in every avenue.
